The project
Svilengrad Municipality is rich in cultural, historical, and natural heritage. Its unique geography and diverse tourist sites create excellent conditions for the development of tourism and its supporting infrastructure.
The tourism sector plays a key role in the sustainable socio-economic development of the region, strengthening the local economy and enhancing the municipality’s competitiveness.
To address the need for improved orientation and visibility of cultural and historical sites, Svilengrad Municipality has developed a project proposal focused on enhancing the tourist information infrastructure.
The project is titled “Improving Access to Information on Tourist Infrastructure in the Municipality of Svilengrad.”
Main Project Activities:
- Delivery and installation of 115 signposts and information boards for tourist sites in the Municipality of Svilengrad
- Implementation of an online information system for tourist sites in the region
These interventions will enhance the visibility and accessibility of cultural and historical resources, encourage tourist flow, and improve visitor awareness.
Project Objectives
The project aims to enhance the tourist infrastructure in Svilengrad Municipality through the installation of modern information boards and the development of an online platform for tourist information.
Specific objectives include:
- Improving the living environment for residents of the municipality
- Enhancing tourist orientation and awareness
- Promoting and effectively utilizing the area’s tourist resources
By achieving these objectives, the project will contribute to the sustainable development of tourism, increase the visibility of cultural and historical sites, and stimulate economic activity in the region.
Project Impact
The project includes the installation of information boards at 10 key heritage sites as part of a broader strategy to protect and promote cultural heritage.
These measures will help increase interest in these sites, many of which are currently under-visited due to limited accessible information.
The implementation of an integrated information system will enable tourists to easily discover and plan their visits, thereby enhancing the overall tourist appeal of the region.
Expected Results
Upon completion, the Municipality of Svilengrad will establish itself as an attractive tourist destination.
The improved infrastructure will lay the groundwork for the development of integrated tourism products that span the entire territory of the LAG.
This will improve access to sites of archaeological, architectural, and historical significance, while promoting the sustainable development of cultural tourism.
